尾道市街地の対岸、向島に建つ築60年ほどの住宅の改修計画。
移住者である東京から移住した若い夫婦がこの場所の社会や環境と連れ添い、たのしみながら暮らすためのよりどころとなる家を目指した。長い年数をかけ各時代や住まい手に選択されてきたバラエティに富む要素を新たに付加する要素と共にひとつずつ丁寧に調停しながら次の生活の風景を描いた。
This is a renovation project for a 60-year-old house on Mukaishima Island, across the river from downtown Onomichi.The goal was to create a home that would serve as a place for a young couple from Tokyo to live in harmony with and enjoy the society and environment of the area. We carefully mediated the various elements that have been selected over the years by each generation and resident, along with the newly added elements, to create the next landscape of their lives.
柱素地のうすい木部色、玄関からのアイストップに残した既存土壁の表情、土壁の粗い粒子の上をすべり落ちる自然光の色、そしてそれを受けえ留めるあたたかい色味の土間。さまざまな要素の連環が心地よさをもたらしている。
The light wood color of the columns, the expression of the existing clay wall left at the ice top from the entrance, the color of the natural light slipping down on the coarse particles of the clay wall, and the warm color of the earthen floor that receives and holds the light. The interconnection of these various elements creates a sense of comfort.
夫妻の共通の趣味であるサウナのための小屋を住宅横に増築した。
ウィスキングの資格を持つ夫妻は週末限定で身近な方々に施術をしている。施術前後に来訪者との交流を担う場として既存和室の一部を土間化し、小さなコミュニティスペースとした。
A shed for a sauna, a common hobby of the couple, was added to the side of the house.
The couple, who are both certified whisking practitioners, provide treatment to people close to them on weekends only. A part of the existing Japanese-style room was converted into a small community space with an earthen floor as a place to interact with visitors before and after the treatment.
